About The Position

The Food Bank Bread Sort Technician supports Kids Café by inspecting, sorting, organizing, and staging donated bread and bakery products. The technician directs safe, usable items to the appropriate programs and ensures bakery trays and racks are returned efficiently.

Requirements

Stand and walk for extended periods while working in a warehouse or food-sorting environment.
Frequently bend, reach, twist, and use hands for repetitive sorting, handling, and placement of bakery products.
Lift, carry, push, or pull bread products, trays, racks, and related materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or equipment when appropriate.
Work safely around rolling racks, warehouse equipment, and changing temperatures.
Maintain the visual ability and diligence necessary to assess product freshness and condition.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Inspect donated bread for freshness and overall suitability for distribution or meal preparation.
Sort bread into whole wheat, white, and other appropriate categories.
Direct all consumable whole wheat bread to Kids Café for sandwich and meal preparation.
Separate white bread and other usable products for distribution through appropriate food bank programs.
Sort pastries, cakes, and other sweet products and place them in designated containers for distribution.
Group bread trays and racks by donating bakery and maintain an orderly staging area.
Stage sorted trays and racks for timely transportation and return to the appropriate bakery.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
Assist with other duties as assigned to support Kids Café and food bank operations.
