The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) is seeking a part-time permanent Brand Inspector 1 for the Animal Services Division. This division is dedicated to protecting and enhancing animal health and well-being, promoting the economic vitality of the livestock industry, and safeguarding citizens by identifying and limiting exposure to zoonotic diseases. The Livestock Identification Program, which this position supports, verifies ownership and title status through livestock inspections and recorded brands, deterring theft and fraud. The Brand Inspector 1 performs ownership inspections of cattle and horses at various locations and assists with change of ownership transactions at public livestock markets. This position is approved for a home duty station in Benton and Franklin County, WA, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) Union. The typical starting salary ranges from $42,780 to $55,596 annually.
