About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Branch Supervisor is responsible for providing members with service on a variety of transactions. This role involves welcoming members, providing general information about Credit Union products and services, and handling various member services in savings. When the Branch Manager is absent, the Branch Supervisor acts in their capacity. The role is expected to uphold Guardian Credit Union's core values: Relationships, Accountability, Teamwork, and Honesty.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of high school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in cash handling and customer service.
  • Ability to operate routine office equipment.
  • Typing at 35 words per minute minimum.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain Credit Union policy and transactions posted to members' accounts and to adhere to policy.
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services offered to membership and demonstrated ability to cross-sell/refer such services effectively.
  • Interpersonal skills to represent Credit Union positively in dealing with members and staff.
  • Ability to work well in a group environment.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and tact in dealing with management, supervisors, members, and staff.
  • Must present a professional, business-like appearance and manner.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to change quickly.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Travel to different worksites is required at times.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Credit Union to members in a friendly, positive, and professional manner, providing prompt, efficient, confidential, and accurate service for transactions over the counter, by phone, and by mail.
  • Assist in the ongoing training and education of new/current employee staff to ensure they have the expertise to perform their duties effectively.
  • Open and close accounts for new and existing members according to Credit Union guidelines, ensuring all documents and information are recorded accurately.
  • Respond to member requests, problems, and complaints, or direct them to the appropriate person for assistance.
  • Assist branch staff with complex transactions, member questions/issues, and daily needs, including researching teller variances.
  • Meet all assigned production and referral goals and successfully cross-sell all services offered by the Credit Union.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in coaching MSR staff to increase direct members and products per member (PPM).
  • Handle special member requests such as IRAs, Certificates of Deposit, and transfers of deceased members.
  • Perform branch opening and closing duties as supervisor, following dual control procedures.
  • Be available to answer branch alarm company calls during non-business hours and act appropriately to ensure branch safety and soundness.
  • Perform daily cash advance balancing.
  • Ensure the branch is consistently kept neat and clean.
  • Serve as a Notary Public.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned, such as debit disputes, automatic transfers, bond redemption, and wire transfers.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with monthly and quarterly security testing.
  • Handle all monetary transactions for members (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing) and other normal member inquiries.
