The Branch Supervision Specialist role supports sales supervision activities and regulatory activities for designated private wealth branches to meet all regulatory requirements. This role evaluates the strength and effectiveness of supervision and adoption of policies and processes at the branch level, and develops action plans to improve supervision. The specialist acts as a designee on supervision objectives for the branch, provides ongoing supervision education to the assigned branch/portfolio, and offers support and guidance to branch employees on supervision issues. The role involves conducting independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues, supporting the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and breaking down strategic problems to analyze data and information for insights and recommendations. Additionally, the specialist provides approvals for new and updated accounts, trade transactions, and trade amendments, conducts reviews of insiders, social media, and outgoing correspondence, and acts as an escalation point for supervision issues/concerns within the branch. The role also manages registration requirements as required by regulators/legislation, provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs, and leads/participates in the design, implementation, and management of core business/group processes. This includes identifying business needs, designing/developing tools and training programs, and potentially delivering training. The specialist performs required supervision reviews (delegated tasks) such as Global Relay Email Review, Gateway Message Review, Daily Trade Review, Monthly Activity Review, Quarterly Meridian Report Review, and Outstanding Documentation Review, and handles Query and Request for Information (RFI) and follows up on outstanding issues. The role performs supervision activities to meet regulatory requirements and maintain service level standards, builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders, ensures alignment between stakeholders, and follows through on risk and supervision processes and policies to safeguard customers’ assets, maintain their privacy, act in their best interests, and ensure an effectively run function. The role protects the Bank's assets and complies with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements, with a primary focus on the business/group within BMO, though a broader, enterprise-wide focus may be assigned. It requires exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules, and working independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. The role involves taking measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework, in line with the Risk Culture and within the approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk-informed decisions that align to business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policy documents, laws, and regulations.
