Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is seeking a proven leader as Branch Manager of its Winnipeg office. This individual will oversee all facets of the branch, driving profitability, efficiency, and performance across the region. The Branch Manager will support the branch's Investment Advisors and staff in a hands-on leadership mandate, with ownership of revenue growth, expense discipline, asset gathering, compliance standards, and the client experience. The successful candidate will quickly establish trust and credibility with the branch team, national wealth management leadership, and compliance partners while delivering against branch targets and maintaining a clean compliance and audit record. The role suits a proven wealth management leader who combines commercial drive with sound judgment and a genuine commitment to advisor and client success.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Branch Manager within a wealth management or full-service brokerage environment; or as an accomplished Investment Advisor seeking to advance into leadership, continue managing a book of business, and elevate their profile within the region.
  • Extensive industry knowledge, including knowledge of individual securities, how capital markets work, economic cycles and the performance of securities within these cycles, as well as taxation issues affecting private clients.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements governing the Canadian wealth management industry, including CIRO rules, supervisory obligations, and know-your-client and suitability standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and motivate advisors and engage clients with credibility.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including solid financial modeling capability, applied to branch performance analysis and business planning.
  • The ability to make quick, sound, and ethical decisions and to work effectively under pressure and strict deadlines.
  • Resourceful and diligent, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing time and multiple competing priorities.
  • Industry licensing or designations relevant to branch supervision (e.g., completion of applicable CIRO supervisory course requirements, CIM, and/or CFA).

Nice To Haves

  • Business undergraduate degree is preferred; a master's degree in business, finance, or a related field is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and select competitive Investment Advisor candidates.
  • Promote new products and issues across the branch.
  • Set realistic branch targets.
  • Liaise with IAs on an ongoing basis to ensure they are meeting their targets.
  • Adhere to national targets for allowable growth of operating expenses.
  • Perform audits as needed.
  • Follow up on errors.
  • Prepare monthly analysis and reporting on branch performance.
  • Adhere to all corporate and regulatory compliance requirements necessary to meet industry standards.
  • Safeguard the assets of shareholders.
  • Monitor and control branch performance and take responsibility for the quality of business conducted within the branch.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and regulatory developments.
  • Ensure the ethical and professional behavior of all branch employees.
  • Resolve any client complaints in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial branch culture consistent with CG's values.
  • Coach and develop advisors and support staff.
  • Represent the firm in the Winnipeg business community.
