About The Position

The Calgary Branch Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Ply Gem Canada Calgary branch. This includes P&L responsibility, sales revenue, service and distribution operations, and associate training and development. The role involves ensuring employee training is up-to-date, safety practices are understood and consistently applied, and overseeing branch operations for profitability. The manager is responsible for achieving branch sales targets, managing general office functions, and focusing on sales channel performance to improve client satisfaction. They will work closely with the Regional Sales Manager in planning and developing strategies, monitoring pricing and discounts, and managing daily branch activities and customer relationships. The position also involves developing and maintaining positive relationships with the Ply Gem Canada customer base, communicating policies and procedures, approving expenses and credits, and effectively communicating corporate goals to staff. Additionally, the Branch Manager will oversee the warehouse, freight, and inventory management, be responsible for hiring, orientation, training, and development of staff, and ensure branch facilities and equipment are kept in a clean and safe condition. A thorough knowledge of all Ply Gem Canada products and their functions is required. The role fosters a proactive and positive working environment, works with senior management on product and process development, and is responsible for efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives. Security of the facility and its contents is also a key responsibility. Occasional travel within Canada may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience – preferably in Business Management
  • 2-5 years of previous management or supervisory experience – preferably in the construction industry
  • previous P&L responsibility

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employee training is up to date, all safety practices are understood, and consistent safety practices are applied.
  • Oversee branch operations for profitability
  • Responsible for achieving branch sales targets
  • Manage general office functions such as Accounts Payable, Credit & Collections, order entry, customer service, etc.
  • Focus on overall sales channel performance, constantly looking for ways to improve client satisfaction according to agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Monitor misc. categories such as RGA’s, Credits, DSO’s, Change Orders etc., and address root cause issues with corrective actions as necessary
  • Work closely with Regional Sales Manager in planning and developing strategies and implementing programs to ensure effective selling, promotion, customer education and seamless customer service and satisfaction
  • Monitor pricing and discounts to maximize opportunities
  • Manage the daily activities in the branch including customer relationships
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Ply Gem Canada customer base
  • Knowledge and communication of Ply Gem Canada policies and procedures
  • Approve all expenses and credits relating to the branch
  • Effectively communicate corporate goals and objectives to staff
  • Conduct branch meetings as required
  • Oversee the warehouse and freight and manage inventory to ensure sufficient turns are achieved.
  • Responsible for the hiring, orientation, training and development of all staff.
  • Ensure Ply Gem Canada branch facilities and equipment are kept in a clean and safe condition
  • Complete knowledge of all Ply Gem Canada products and their functions
  • Foster a proactive and positive working environment to enhance Ply Gem Canada Branch operations
  • Work with senior management and other departments towards the development of products and processes that will maximize future opportunities for the company as a whole.
  • Responsible for efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for security of the facility and all contents; this would include any existing outside storage areas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
