About The Position

Reporting to the General Manager, the Branch Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, profitability, and growth of the Austin branch. This role combines sales leadership, operational management, customer relationship development, and team leadership to drive sustainable business growth. This role leads all branch operations while developing new business opportunities, strengthening existing customer relationships, improving operational efficiencies, and ensuring outstanding service execution. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, results-oriented leader who enjoys growing a business, mentoring employees, solving customer challenges, and making a measurable impact on revenue and profitability. This role works closely with sales, operations, rental, logistics, service, and leadership teams to increase revenue, improve equipment utilization, support customer needs, and deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience. You will operate in a team that values customer focus, ownership, clear communication, continuous improvement, and practical problem solving. Success in this role means building strong customer relationships, developing a high-performing team, driving profitable growth, and creating an exceptional branch experience for customers and associates. The Branch Manager will report to the General Manager and this position is part of the Ajax Rentals team located in Austin, Texas.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in branch management, operations, sales management, rental equipment, industrial services, environmental services, or a related industry.
  • Proven ability to grow revenue, improve profitability, and develop customer relationships.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing budgets and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to balance operational excellence with commercial growth.
  • Experience with CRM, ERP, rental software, Microsoft Office, and business reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in environmental instrumentation, gas detection, water quality monitoring, industrial rentals, or construction services.
  • Experience leading multi-functional teams in a customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive branch revenue growth through new customer acquisition and expansion of existing customer accounts.
  • Partner with Outside Sales Representatives to develop strategic growth plans for key markets and customers.
  • Identify new business opportunities within environmental consulting, engineering, construction, industrial safety, municipalities, water utilities, and government agencies.
  • Participate in customer visits, industry events, trade shows, networking opportunities, and business development activities.
  • Monitor sales performance, rental utilization, quoting activity, customer retention metrics, branch productivity, and operational KPIs.
  • Develop strategies to increase equipment utilization, improve operational efficiency, and maximize branch profitability.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers by understanding their business needs and delivering value-added solutions.
  • Champion a customer-first culture throughout the branch.
  • Ensure timely response to customer inquiries, quotations, equipment requests, and technical support needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns quickly while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously evaluate customer feedback and implement improvements that strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Promote Ajax Rentals as the preferred provider for environmental monitoring and specialty rental solutions.
  • Oversee daily branch operations, including rentals, logistics, inventory, equipment preparation, calibration, repairs, fleet utilization, and quality control.
  • Ensure rental equipment is inspected, maintained, calibrated, and delivered according to company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused operation.
  • Optimize scheduling and workflow to maximize efficiency and customer responsiveness.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing branch team.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions and performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture built on teamwork, integrity, continuous improvement, safety, and customer service.
  • Encourage employee development through technical and leadership training.
  • Manage branch revenue, profitability, expenses, and operating budgets.
  • Analyze financial reports and KPIs to identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement.
  • Ensure accurate quoting, billing, inventory management, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to achieve annual business objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all equipment, facilities, and vehicles meet company standards.
