About The Position

The Commercial Grounds Branch Manager is responsible for the overall planning and performance of a Commercial Grounds Management Branch. This role involves managing Account Managers, Production Managers, Enhancement Manager, and Enhancement Designer/Estimator. The ideal candidate will be an effective leader with a strong work ethic, the ability to inspire others, and a solid understanding of Commercial Grounds Management. This position supports the General Manager and Vice President, with responsibilities spanning management, horticulture, administration, accounting, personnel oversight, sales, and general operations.

  • Ability to work around environmental risks such as bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and ice.
  • Adherence to Bland Landscaping Company, Inc. policies.
  • Possession and maintenance of a NCDA pesticide applicator’s license.
  • Valid NC Driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to assist in training of BLC employees.
  • Ability to work well with BLC customers.
  • Willingness to seek out and be involved with Continuing Education opportunities.
  • Willingness to network to promote BLC.

Responsibilities

  • Implement all policies and procedures related to CRM, administration, enhancement design, installation, and commercial grounds production.
  • Balance the production of quality work with profitability, utilizing KPI reports.
  • Develop team members through training and coaching.
  • Foster team cohesion within the Branch.
  • Conduct bi-weekly branch meetings with a set agenda submitted to the executive team.
  • Implement and supervise all aspects of horticulture on job sites.
  • Continuously improve horticulture knowledge through education and industry engagement.
  • Manage purchasing, invoicing, inventory, billing, and collections for the Branch.
  • Review and close out open work orders.
  • Measure, record, and submit monthly branch inventory to the Controller.
  • Develop and manage branch budgets and cost controls.
  • Ensure data integrity for accounting systems (BOSSLM mobile timesheets, inventory, work orders).
  • Manage equipment inventory and ensure accurate record keeping in coordination with the VP of Operations and Fleet Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the use of BOSSLM for operations-related entries, communication, scheduling, and tracking.
  • Oversee Production Managers in performing interviews, hiring, orientation, training, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Manage seasonally adjusted headcount and budgeted vs. actual hours using KPI reports and past experience.
  • Utilize BOSSLM reports to forecast human resource needs on a seasonally adjusted basis.
  • Ensure monthly budgeted hours are forecast and acted upon by Production Managers, directing necessary adjustments.
  • Implement and manage the general safety program.
  • Engage in effective customer relations, fostering resolution to client needs and representing the company in a customer-centric way.
  • Promptly address client concerns and maintain excellent client relations.
  • Retain a minimum of 95% of Commercial Grounds Management Contracts.
  • Review price increases and approve contract renewals.
  • Promote Enhancement sales directly and indirectly through Account Managers and the Enhancement Designer.
  • Achieve annual sales goals for the branch.
  • Promote Commercial Grounds Management sales directly and indirectly through the Account Manager Team.
  • Utilize BOSS reports to track sales pipeline, contract retention, and enhancement sales.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other Managers for company advancement.
  • Ensure Branch lockup and security.
  • Oversee timely repairs to facilities and assets.
  • Coordinate vehicle and equipment repairs with the Fleet Manager.
  • Ensure the safe operation of all company-owned assets.
  • Safely drive company-owned vehicles and ensure drivers maintain a safe driving record.
  • Oversee the company's position at the forefront of the landscape industry.
  • Manage any needed subcontractors.
