About The Position

Rexel USA is seeking a Branch Driver to join their team in San Leandro, CA. This role is responsible for delivering products to customers, company branches, and suppliers using a delivery van or box truck (no CDL required). The driver will ensure deliveries are prepared efficiently, materials are correct and undamaged, and all necessary documentation is completed. The position may also involve assisting with order preparation, picking up returns, and potentially other branch duties such as counter sales or order fulfillment when needed. The level of the position (I, II, or Senior) and corresponding pay will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and capabilities. Senior drivers will also participate in training and mentoring entry-level drivers.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment and annual review of the Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
  • Must not have had a suspended driver's license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years.
  • Must not have any at fault accidents in the past 3 years.
  • Ability to handle loads with a combined weight not to exceed 26,000 GVW.
  • Ability to handle basic issues and problems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and familiarity with traffic and driver laws.
  • Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • In lieu of experience, must attend company driver training.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects and complete a daily inspection report.
  • Maintain company vehicle cleanliness, service, and alert supervisor to needed repairs.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations.
  • Load or unload vehicle, ensuring accuracy of material quantity and type for each order, and verifying materials are free of damage before departure.
  • Assist in preparing orders for delivery.
  • Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed at the time of delivery, including customer signature on delivery receipt, packing list, and branch/warehouse manifest.
  • Pick up material returns from customers, inspecting material condition and verifying quantities and catalog numbers.
  • Pick up material from company suppliers.
  • Participate in the training of entry-level Truck Drivers and provide mentorship and coaching (Senior Truck Driver).
  • Perform other job functions within a branch when required, including counter sales, preparing and filling orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material, and maintaining branch equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
