About The Position

The Branch Development Manager (BDM) works closely with the Market President and Business Partners in their market to shape and execute strategic business development initiatives. This role provides for continual growth and development of team members by providing consistent and positive coaching and reinforcement to ensure team members contribute to the overall success of the branch. The BDM works in conjunction with the Market Presidents to ensure operational soundness as well as other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business administration or similar field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3-5 years’ management experience, preferably in the financial industry.
  • Proven experience in business development/sales, preferably in the financial industry.
  • Certified Financial Counselor (CFC) designation.
  • Strong understanding or lending, deposit products, and financial services.
  • Market Acumen – strong understanding of market dynamics, trends, and competition in the financial industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with managing sales teams to create a successful, motivating, and enthusiastic environment for exceptional member experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, local businesses, and community leaders.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of financial products and services offered by the credit union, including lending, deposit products and financial services.
  • Ability to work closely with the Market President and branch managers fostering collaboration and achieving cohesive business development goals.
  • Proven record in setting and achieving measurable goals for market development, loan, and deposit acquisition.
  • Enthusiastic for community engagement and in representing Achieva Credit Union as a positive and impactful force in the market.
  • Capacity to adjust strategies based on performance metrics and changing market conditions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other departments and teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to work independently, driving business development with initiative and enthusiasm.
  • In-depth understanding and adherence to risk and compliance standards in the financial industry and ability to implement and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Strong commitment to fostering a member-centric culture with strong emphasis on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to address operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated decision making skills, especially in high-pressure situations, to ensure the smooth operation of the branch.
  • Proven analytical mindset to assess branch performance, identify areas for improvement and implement data-driven strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for branch penetration and expansion.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, local businesses, and community leaders.
  • Devise and execute targeted strategies to attract loans and deposits in alignment with Achieva Credit Union’s objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to increase loan and deposit portfolio while maintaining adherence to risk and compliance standards.
  • Ensure ongoing activation and compliance with loan application processes in branch.
  • Act as the face of Achieva Credit Union in the market, embodying our values and commitment to community engagement.
  • Participate in relevant community events, forums, and networking opportunities to enhance the credit union’s visibility.
  • Work with the Market President to execute on RSS initiatives in the branch.
  • Use the RSS tools to conduct observations, coaching and feedback for continual improvement in sales and service environment.
  • Work with the Market President to align business development strategies with overall market goals.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Relationship Manager (CRM) in the market to ensure cohesive and coordinated efforts in achieving business deposit and commercial loan goals.
  • Collaborate with the Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) in the market to ensure cohesive and coordinated efforts in achieving mortgage lending goals.
  • Collaborate with the Achieva Wealth Advisor in the market to ensure cohesive and coordinated efforts in achieving wealth goals.
  • Work closely with internal departments, such as Marketing, Operations, Product Managers, and Risk Management to ensure seamless integration of business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other Achieve Credit Union branches to share best practices and maintain a cohesive organizational approach.
  • Develop clear and measurable goals in partnership with the Market President for market development, loan, and deposit acquisition.
  • Consistently use RSS tools to perform consistent coaching and feedback to ensure skill development in team members for continual growth and success in branch role.
  • Regularly track and report on performance metrics, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve or exceed targets.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to all Certified Financial Counselors (CFCs) to ensure ongoing participation in the program.
  • Ensure consistent utilization of Coconut, Sugar, and other RSS tools.
  • Set clear performance expectations for branch staff and conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews.
  • Develop strategies to enhance team productivity and individual performance.
  • Lead RSS Strategies alongside the Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) to ensure branch employees meet goals and expand relationships with the members.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to all employees for ongoing success, participation and decrease variability in branch measures.
  • Oversee all aspects of daily branch operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Implement and uphold compliance with industry regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Represent the credit union with professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all interactions and responsibilities.
  • Represent and uphold the Achieva Brand Frame.
  • Champion initiatives that position the credit union as a top employer through leadership, integrity and service excellence.
  • Participate in annual training or as required by BSA and the Privacy Act.
  • Perform other essential functions as needed or assigned.
  • Travel may be required on occasion.
  • Be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays based on workload, or member/ business demands.
