About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Branch Banking Management Military Apprentice (SAFE) for the National Branch Network as part of the Consumer Banking and Lending division. This role involves leading, managing, and developing a diverse team, fostering engagement, and driving accountability for business outcomes. Successful candidates will lead a customer engagement process, coach specific behaviors to enhance customer experience and business growth, and ensure operational excellence. This includes executing policies and procedures in alignment with regulations, audit, and escalation procedures, and managing branch resources. The apprentice will also assist with customer transactions, serving as a role model for exceptional customer experience and relationship building. As part of a U.S. Department of Labor accredited Apprenticeship program, duties include on-the-job training, coursework, and mentorship, preparing the apprentice for a fully functioning Associate Branch Manager role. This SAFE position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of finance or budgetary experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Enrollment into Wells Fargo’s DOL Registered Apprentice Program is required.
  • Apprentices are considered full-time employees within the program.
  • Apprentices are expected to uphold and adhere to Wells Fargo and the Apprenticeship Program, and follow Wells Fargo's prescribed policies, procedures, and employee expectations.
  • This position requires SAFE registration at the time of employment. Wells Fargo will initiate the SAFE registration process immediately after your employment start date.
  • Individuals in Loan Originator (LO) positions must meet the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau qualification requirements and comply with related Wells Fargo policies.
  • The LO qualification requirements include meeting applicable financial responsibility, character, general financial fitness and criminal background standards.
  • A current credit report will be used to assess your financial responsibility and credit fitness, however, a credit score is not included as part of the evaluation.
  • Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening, if necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Military experience in any branch of service: Army, National Guard, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard or Reserves.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Military experience in a customer facing role.
  • Relevant military experience including working in personnel benefits management, processing military personnel orders or transitions, wartime readiness operations, human resources or military recruiting
  • Leadership experience including coaching, training, developing and building a high performing team
  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and internal partners
  • Extensive experience in asking questions and identifying complex financial needs in order to provide recommendations on products and services to customers
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, applications, and utilize search tools to find information
  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance controls, risk management and loss prevention
  • Relevant military experience including working with military protocol and instructions, enlisted evaluations, officer/leadership reporting

  • Participate in less complex initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvements within scope of responsibilities for Branch Banking functional area.
  • Review and analyze basic business, operational, or technical assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives, and exercise independent judgement to guide medium risk deliverables.
  • Present recommendations for resolving more complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise within Branch Banking functional area, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate and consult with Branch Banking colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders, including internal as well as external customers.
  • Perform a variety of structured duties, including on-the-job training, coursework and mentorship, under the supervision of a hiring manager, program manager and a mentor.
  • Assist in the professional development of an apprentice, in preparation for the post-apprenticeship role.
  • Facilitate an apprentice’s required path for professional development to gain proficiency and obtain the required experience of a fully functioning Associate Branch Manager.
