About The Position

Metalcraft of Mayville is seeking a Brake Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of Cincinnati and Amada hydraulic CNC press brakes in a fast-paced, just-in-time fabrication environment. The Brake Press Operator will set up equipment, select appropriate tooling, form metal components to specifications, and inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • Previous brake press, metal forming, fabrication, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and production specifications.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math.
  • Experience with basic dimensional measuring and ability to learn precision measuring tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with various metal-forming processes.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic manufacturing issues and seek assistance when appropriate.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to changing production needs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cincinnati and/or Amada CNC press brakes is a plus.
  • Previous overhead crane experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Cincinnati and Amada hydraulic CNC press brakes.
  • Select the correct tooling for each job using setup documentation, work instructions, or assistance from a supervisor or lead.
  • Install, align, and properly set up punches, dies, and other required tooling.
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, blueprints, and shop drawings to determine job specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Position, align, and secure workpieces using fixtures, stops, guides, and other equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings and components to meet product specifications and production requirements.
  • Plan the sequence of forming operations based on job requirements and material characteristics.
  • Use gauges, hand tools, and measuring equipment to verify dimensions and ensure completed parts meet specifications.
  • Perform assigned work according to established production and quality standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic manufacturing, material, or quality issues and seek assistance when needed.
  • Safely operate forklifts, hoists, and overhead cranes to move materials and completed work.
  • Mark and identify completed work as required.
  • Report and document material, production, equipment, or quality concerns.
  • Perform operator-level preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Assist other operators or production areas as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company and plant safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
