About The Position

Nemco Food Equipment is committed to the manufacturing and on-time delivery of piece parts to assembly operations. This role involves operating a variety of work centers capable of fabricating sheet steel into complex parts. After an initial training period, productivity and quality requirements must be met. Tasks require the setup and operation of a CNC brake press to produce parts that meet blueprint specifications and tolerances; quality record documentation; and incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality assessments.

Requirements

  • Ability to set up and operate machinery.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow specific written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to use measuring tools.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Ability to keep the workspace clean and organized.
  • Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequently lifting items weighing 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.; occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Walking: Frequent walking short distances (less than 1/8 mile).
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of bulky items weighing up to 50 lbs. short distances.
  • Pushing: Use of manual hand trucks and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.
  • Pulling: Use of manual hand trucks and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.
  • Bending: Occasional bending required to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Reaching: Frequent reaching to load and unload parts from fixtures in a machine, tubs, carts, or pallets.
  • Handling: Frequent handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.
  • Gripping: Frequent gripping of parts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a machine operator in a production environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow work order routings and properly complete associated paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform first-piece inspection of manufactured parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications and tolerances and adjust setups accordingly to ensure a quality product is produced.
  • Train new operators on the setup and operation of CNC equipment, as required.
  • Train to become proficient on various machines, with moderate supervision and/or crew leader instruction.
  • Communicate all machine-related issues (e.g., machine downtime or equipment damage) and/or part availability to the supervisor and/or crew leader.
