About The Position

Lead design & development of the hardware in advanced electronic brake control systems. This system is designed to deliver anti-lock braking, stability control, regenerative braking, electric brake boost, and support Driver Assistance features. The Supervisor is responsible to lead a team that is responsible for the design of parts that comply with Corporate and Legal Requirements. The supervisor will lead signoff compliance to Engineering Requirements, ES (Engineering Specifications) and DR (Design Rules) as well as the Manufacturing, Assembly and Service requirements. The people leader is responsible to coordinate and implement all the required actions to improve overall customer satisfaction as it relates to the product while maintaining an affordable business structure generating cost reduction and revenue initiatives for current and future product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
  • Min 7 years design or development experience in chassis or powertrain controls
  • Experience with Quality Metrics and Analysis Tools
  • Experience with Total Value Management (TVM) and Material Cost Reductions
  • Familiarity with vehicle network communication (CAN)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering disciplines: DVP&R, DFMEA, 8D, NVH, Process Controls, GD&T, Reliability and System Engineering Fundamentals
  • Open to the usage of AI to help increase efficiencies and workload throughput.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Engineering efforts for vehicle / system / subsystem / component part development and release for a global team of engineers.
  • Provides Engineering Sign Off for vehicles.
  • Approves engineering changes (Concerns / Notices / Alerts etc).
  • Establishes overall tone and priorities to ensure the GPDS deliverables requirements are met.
  • Ensures rapid response to customers field concerns on current product lines.
  • Manages resources across vehicle line consistent with business plan. Takes a pro-active role in fostering growth of all engineering personnel via career development, skills training, cross-functional assessment, etc.
  • Design and release brake control modules and brackets -- fully own all deliverables associated with your components
  • Guide supplier partners through the Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) process
  • Perform Failure Mode Avoidance and Functional Safety analyses to examine potential failure modes and design suitable prevention strategies
  • Work with software team, as a matched pair, to deliver brake control systems and emerging new technologies
  • Work with chassis controls foundation team to establish requirements for advanced brake control systems and emerging new technologies
  • Work with other functional areas within Ford (Electrical, Powertrain, and Vehicle Program teams) to ensure that all vehicle interfaces are defined and supported
  • Support vehicle testing, rig testing, and Hardware-In-the-Loop simulations to demonstrate system functionality
  • Manage system quality, cost and timing to ensure high quality program deliverables.
