About The Position

The BrainPAC & Political Affairs Manager plays an important role in advancing the AAN’s federal advocacy efforts by leading and strengthening BrainPAC, the Academy’s federal political action committee. This role drives fundraising strategies that support the Academy’s legislative priorities, builds meaningful relationships with members of Congress and their staff through events and engagement opportunities, and brings the AAN’s policy priorities forward to help shape effective federal advocacy strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PAC administration or policy
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold AAN’s values
  • Demonstrated ability to fundraise
  • Demonstrated advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of the federal political and legislative process
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and recordkeeping
  • Anticipates needed actions; plans and follows through with work activities; dependable and focused on getting things done to achieve goals

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a health care industry or physician PAC program is preferred
  • Experience using SparkInfluence PAC software, or similar product is preferred
  • Experience using Quorum software, or a similar product is preferred
  • FEC compliance and lobbying disclosure knowledge is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience planning meetings and/or events is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leading and strengthening BrainPAC, the Academy’s federal political action committee.
  • Driving fundraising strategies that support the Academy’s legislative priorities.
  • Building meaningful relationships with members of Congress and their staff through events and engagement opportunities.
  • Bringing the AAN’s policy priorities forward to help shape effective federal advocacy strategy.
