Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible. The opportunity: We are currently looking to fill 2 new opportunities for Part-Time Brain Injury Support Workers in our Langford, BC site. Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, overnights on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Starting wage: $20.51 per hour. Hours: Various hours per week.

Requirements

Minimum of three years’ experience in Human Services field and/or working with people with ABI.
Current CARE and CPR, First Aid an asset
Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Sound behavioral management skills, cognitive problem-solving skills.
Proven teamwork abilities.
Working knowledge of ABI and rehabilitation.
Ability to effectively deal with behavioral situations.
Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Post-Secondary preferred in Human and Social Services

Responsibilities

Supports the maintenance of rehabilitation goals achieved by clients in our brain injury programs for individuals living with the effects of brain injury.
Provides support services of housekeeping and preparing meals and snacks to individuals at the day program.
Provides supports to maintain client rehabilitation goals (set by Rehabilitation Worker) and offers assistance with housekeeping and snacks and meals.
Activities in which the Support Worker may be involved with require attention to the maintenance of health and safety requirements, especially regarding lifts/ transfers/ bending/ carrying and stretching, maintenance of “universal precautions” and careful use of household cleaning materials.
Service is provided in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner which respects the client’s dignity and right to privacy.
Reporting responsibilities (incident reports, behavioral data collection and verbal reports).
Participate in any required training.
Follow policies and procedures as required.
Provide one to one support and group support within the home and community to adults with an Acquired Brain Injury with activities of daily living, personal care, and rehabilitation planning.
Communicate with consumer, family, and team members.
