About The Position

The Boys Volleyball Head Coach works at Northern, Eastern, and Central High School and reports to the Athletic Director(s) and Principal. The coach helps participating students develop volleyball skills and an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, school spirit, and pride, while supporting their self-esteem and positive self-image. The position is seasonal, with compensation described in the supplemental contract of the Master Agreement between the Board of Education, Forest Hills Public Schools, and Forest Hills NEA-MEA District Association. The employee is evaluated annually by either an athletic director and/or the principal.

Requirements

Excellent communication skills with parents and students.
Ability to commit to a flexible time commitment.

Nice To Haves

Volleyball and/or coaching experience.
First aid and CPR knowledge.

Responsibilities

Develop and communicate clear, specific goals for the team and individual players.
Develop players’ volleyball-specific skills.
Establish a team that demonstrates good sportsmanship.
Maintain open and honest communication with students, parents, other coaches, and the Athletic Coordinator.
Create an environment where athletes can build self-esteem and develop a positive self-image.
Demonstrate an understanding of leadership best practices for the sport and age group.
Support students’ academic expectations, responsibilities, and achievements.
Develop knowledge and understanding of Forest Hills Public Schools policies and procedures as they apply to athletics.
Promote and enforce the student-athlete code of conduct.
Connect athletic experiences with life experiences.
Foster teamwork and collaboration among coaches and players.
Model good sportsmanship at all times.
Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student athletes.
Commit to a flexible time commitment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
