About The Position

This position is for a Head Coach Paraprofessional for the Boys Tennis program. The coach will be responsible for promoting sports within the school and community, planning the athletic program, organizing and supervising practices, and teaching fundamental skills, team play, strategy, rules, sportsmanship, and self-control to student athletes. The role also involves ensuring participant eligibility, providing guidance and support to students, recommending equipment purchases, and adhering to school/district policies and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
  • A minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university
  • One year of experience coaching in a school athletic program
  • Must complete a criminal records check if hired
  • Must bring an original, sealed college transcript showing 64 hours or more if hired as a head coach
  • Must bring a copy of your high school diploma

Responsibilities

  • Coach in various secondary school interscholastic athletic programs
  • Promote sports in the schools and community
  • Plan the assigned athletic program
  • Organize and supervise practices
  • Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game
  • Teach good sportsmanship and self-control
  • Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent
  • Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance
  • Conduct learning experiences, with small groups of student athletes
  • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes
  • Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as outlined at the school/district
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Adheres to the professional code of ethics
  • Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
