About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with them in moving the district toward its goals. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Successful SCSD educators are passionately committed to urban education and all in for Syracuse students. They believe strongly that all students can learn at high levels, demonstrate commitment to serving urban students, schools or communities, and to closing the achievement gap. They demonstrate willingness to put the interests of students above all others, actively contribute to a culture of high expectations, and adapt seamlessly to the complexities of the urban school environment. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. The coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) serves as a 'training ground' for skill development and participation, where winning is NOT emphasized and large numbers on teams are encouraged for maximum participation. The program stresses discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication to the value that hard work will produce rewards. The modified program prepares young student athletes for higher-level high school competition. At the high school level, teams strive for success and practice to produce efficient team and individual effort, stressing the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
