About The Position

The Boys Head / Assistant Golf Coach is responsible for leading and assisting the golf team, guiding the development of skills, strategies, and values for each grade level in alignment with The Muckleshoot Tribal School's mission and values. The Head Coach will also train JV program coaches for program alignment. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in these duties.

Requirements

  • Head Coach: Must be 21 years of age or above.
  • Head Coach: High School Diploma.
  • Head Coach: 3-5 years coaching experience at the high school level or above.
  • Head Coach: Hold a valid current First Aid Certification.
  • Head Coach: Hold a valid current CPR Certification.
  • Head Coach: Have successfully completed Concussion recognition and management with Return to Play Protocols training as required by Washington State Law that must be renewed every three (3) years.
  • Head Coach: Have successfully completed Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness and Training as required by Washington State Law that must be renewed every three (3) years.
  • Head Coach: Current and valid Washington state driver’s license.
  • Head Coach: Annually attend a WIAA approved rules clinic in sport being coached.
  • Head Coach: Annually complete the WIAA general rules clinic and the WIAA approved rule clinic for the sport being coached prior to the end of the third week of the sports season.
  • Assistant Coach: Must be 19 years of age or above.
  • Assistant Coach: High School Diploma.
  • Assistant Coach: Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work and that meets federal and state requirements.
  • Assistant Coach: Hold a valid current First Aid Certification.
  • Assistant Coach: Hold a valid current CPR Certification.
  • Assistant Coach: Current and valid Washington state driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the particular sport.
  • Ability to comply with WIAA coaching standards.
  • Ability to exercise fairness in dealing with student athletes.
  • Ability to motivate student athletes.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and exemplary manner at all times.
  • Ability to maintain poise and composure during practice and games.
  • Ability to relate to and work with students of differing athletic abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work and student relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.

Nice To Haves

  • Head Coach: Previous experience coaching Native American students is preferred.
  • Assistant Coach: Previous experience coaching Native American students is preferred.
  • Assistant Coach: Member of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe preferred.
  • Head Coach: Ever Safe Drivers course completed before/or after appointment.
  • Assistant Coach: Ever Safe Drivers course completed before/or after appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission and vision of the Muckleshoot Tribal School and the Athletic Program.
  • Attend all school practices, games, tournaments, meetings etc.
  • Organization, administration and coaching of the team under his/her direction.
  • Enforce all rules of the league, state and national association as they pertain to the respective sport.
  • Prepare and maintain a roster of all team members.
  • Assume responsibility for conduct of contestants in sport involved.
  • Complete all requirements outlined by State WIAA.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations such as the state coaches’ association.
  • Assume supervisory control over all levels of teams in the program.
  • Ensure facility regulations are understood and enforced.
  • Emphasize safety precautions and use accepted training and injury procedures.
  • Maintain records of the team and individual accomplishments.
  • Develop and improve skill level of all participants including middle school.
