About The Position

Niles Community Schools is seeking a Boys Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach for the 2026–2027 school year. The coach will help improve the program’s culture and support its development. The role requires effective communication and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, building administration, and the community. The position reports to the Athletic Director or designee. The listed salary is $1,500 under the NDEA Collective Bargaining Agreement; for coaches who are not Niles Community Schools teachers, the stipend will be determined by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

• Basketball coaching experience.
• Experience supervising youth.
• Highly effective communication skills and professionalism for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration, and community.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate both off-season and in-season basketball programs.
• Support the program and work with the Varsity Basketball Coach and Athletic Director on all aspects of the program.
• Follow the rules and regulations of the MHSAA and Niles Community Schools.
• Coordinate communication with parents and families.
• Teach basketball skills and develop a team atmosphere.
