About The Position

The Boys Basketball Coach at Limestone Middle School is responsible for training students to be part of the team. This includes leading practices, preparing students for team competitions, and supervising these events. The coach will also be responsible for setting up home competitions and securing volunteers to assist.

Requirements

Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written skills.
Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the sport.
Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
Demonstrate the ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
Punctual and present for all events/practices including bus rides.

Nice To Haves

Organizes and communicates desired supply order to the Athletic Director each winter.
Communicates with schools on scheduled competitions.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.

Responsibilities

Lead practices and prepare students for team competitions/meets.
Supervise students during practices, events, and competitions.
Set up for home competitions/meets and secure volunteers.
Report rosters for competitions and stay updated on sport news and rules.
Communicate with schools regarding scheduled competitions.
Motivate, communicate, and interact positively with student participants.
Communicate and interact positively with parents, officials, and others.
Promote and publicize the team using district and school communication forums.
Maintain records for practices and competitions.
Work with the park district to request space for meetings or competitions.
Make appropriate travel arrangements and communicate with families regarding events.
Plan activities to meet the needs, skills, and interests of students.
Use appropriate channels to resolve concerns, conflicts, and issues.
Conduct practice and competitions with a high level of sportsmanship and ethics.
Ensure no profanity is used by coaches or students.
