RCMS - Boys Assistant Basketball Coach
About The Position
Assist Head Coach. Duties include assisting the Head Coach in supervising, coaching and following all rules, policies and laws of the school, school board & KHSAA. Must be at least 21 years old. This role assists coaches in various secondary school athletic programs, including daily and long-range athletic activities and planning the athletic program. The assistant coach will conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of the head coaches, foster team spirit, and assist with athlete supervision during team travel. Recommendations for equipment, supplies, and uniforms will be made to the head coach, prioritizing the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes. Other non-coaching duties may be assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
- Successful completion of ABLE test.
- Successful completion of criminal record check.
- Current certification in first aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in supervising and coaching.
- Follow all rules, policies, and laws of the school, school board, and KHSAA.
- Assist coaches in daily and long-range athletic activities.
- Assist coaches in planning the athletic program.
- Conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of the head coaches.
- Assist coaches in guiding participants toward a harmonious team spirit.
- Provide escort assistance and supervision to athletes during periods of team travel.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms to the head coach.
- Perform other non-coaching duties assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach.
