About The Position

This is a student employment opportunity at the Boys and Girls Club in Wallingford, part of the Office of Community Engagement. The role is funded through Federal Work-Study and involves working with youth during afterschool program hours.

Requirements

Experience working with youth in an afterschool program, summer camp, or similar environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
A genuine passion for youth development and a commitment to making a positive impact on young lives.
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and neatness in assigned tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Must have available time to work between 3:00 PM and 6:20 PM, Monday through Friday.

Nice To Haves

First Aid and CPR Certification is preferred.
Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification if necessary.

Responsibilities

Oversee assigned group of youth, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
Assist students with homework, projects, and academic challenges, implementing a reward system for achievements.
Develop, coordinate, and deliver youth development programs and special events, utilizing Boys & Girls Clubs of America resources.
Integrate video games to enhance problem-solving, teamwork, digital literacy, and safety.
Build meaningful connections with youth members, serving as a positive role model and providing mentorship.
Apply effective strategies for behavior management, de-escalation, positive reinforcement, active listening, and conflict resolution.
Maintain regular communication with Club staff regarding student progress and concerns.
Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, maintaining accurate attendance records and following check-in/check-out procedures.
Equip youth with knowledge and skills for safe technology navigation and critical evaluation of online information.
Participate in all required training and certifications.
