About The Position

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws. This role involves maintaining the vehicle according to company policy, operating it safely and efficiently, and supporting on-time delivery by transporting loads via established routes. The driver will inspect trailer loads, verify product counts, load and unload cargo (potentially heavy items), secure cargo, and use equipment like dollies and pallet jacks as needed. Accurate completion and return of documentation, such as bills of lading, is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Operator License
  • Minimum 2 Year Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
  • Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
  • Strong written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
  • Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy.
  • Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
  • Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
  • Load and unload cargo (may involve lifting heavy items).
  • Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Use equipment like dollies, pallet jacks, or liftgates when needed.
  • Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
