About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana, Inc. is looking to hire a full-time Truck Driver, for our routes in Northeast Indiana. This role offers a consistent schedule, competitive wages, and great full-time benefits. The Truck Driver plays a vital role in supporting Goodwill's mission of providing services to the community by organizing and transporting donated goods. The role involves driving an assigned route, with a Material Handler to assist with loading and unloading. There are also opportunities to assist with other operations as needed, such as driving a forklift, helping with the baler, or sorting donations.

Requirements

  • A valid Chauffeur’s license, “For Hire” endorsement or CDL (With Good driving record)
  • Ability to pass a DOT Physical
  • Have at least one (1) year of truck driving experience
  • Be able to lift, push or pull heavy objects
  • Be available to work weekends
  • Must have suitable driving record and be determined insurable by Goodwill Industries’ insurance carrier.
  • Ability to work within the team concept.
  • Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the Drug Free Workplace Program.
  • Fully comply with Goodwill’s Code of Ethics.
  • Responsible for adhering to all published safety policies as well as the implementation of specific standards that may be assigned.
  • Responsible for avoiding offensive or inappropriate behavior at work and are responsible for assuring the workplace is free from any type of harassment at all times.
  • Pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • The ability to fully perform lifting and moving duties is mandatory.

  • Pre-sorts donations.

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck to scheduled points using most efficient route.
  • Loads and unloads truck as directed.
  • Moves articles manually, with hand truck, or with pallet jack.
  • Supervises material handler on route work.
  • Loads and packs material to prevent articles from damage, and to make effective use of space.
  • Keeps records of trips, as required by supervisor.
  • Accepts donations and distributes tax receipts.
  • Performs daily visual inspection of truck and checks truck fluids.
  • Reports malfunction of truck or equipment to supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Keeps required equipment and paperwork in truck or on person at all times.
  • Keeps cab and inside box of truck clean.
  • Heavy lifting, pulling and pushing required.
  • Follows all safety rules and practices.
  • Operates radio to keep in contact with supervisor.
  • Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the VP of Operations & E-Commerce in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.
  • Maintain a positive work outlook and to project a pleasant, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, donors, co workers, and clients.
  • Ensures walkways, aisles, exits, and safety equipment areas (i.e., fire extinguishers or fire hoses) are clear and unobstructed.
