About The Position

J.H. Larson Company is seeking a Box Truck Delivery Driver to join their Hudson, WI team. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 4 am to 12:00 pm. The role involves increasing operational efficiency, company profitability, and customer satisfaction by providing on-time delivery services. Drivers are responsible for accurate deliveries to customer-specified addresses, representing JHL positively on customer sites, and assisting with basic order problem-solving. The company is a family-owned and operated independent distributor of Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Datacom products with 8 locations across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota, and 4 showroom locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year working in a team environment.
  • 1 year experience driving a commercial vehicle, including in snow and ice conditions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with team members.
  • Ability to interact with customers/coworkers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to work safely and accurately, in all weather conditions.
  • Strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication) and reading skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Pass the DOT physical.
  • No CDL required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years driving a commercial vehicle preferred.
  • Up-to-date Federal Medcard preferred.
  • 2+ years in a warehouse setting, working with power equipment, an RF scanner, wire cutting, and pulling orders preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow assigned route and make timely deliveries/meet deadlines.
  • Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and best practices for safety while on the road.
  • Load trucks for delivery.
  • Perform basic truck maintenance such as refueling, making visual inspections, and reporting potential issues.
  • Keep trucks clean and organized.
  • Communicate with team members, branch manager, and/or customers as needed regarding delivery status, instructions and issues.
  • Work in a team environment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Complete paperwork and reports related to deliveries as needed.
  • Pick, fill, and pack orders on a timely basis to ensure prompt and accurate deliveries – including picking pipe and wire cutting when applicable.
  • Safely utilize power equipment when necessary to fulfill orders and restock warehouse shelves.
  • Maintain accurate inventory management.
