Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; or 1–3 months of related experience/training; or equivalent combination.
  • Valid driver’s license with prior driving experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety systems and controls.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations, including hours of service and inspection requirements.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Email).

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate a forklift (or willingness to be trained).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ensure reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Operate vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations (up to 11 driving hours within a 14-hour shift).
  • Maintain accurate records of duty status in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Inspect vehicles for defects and ensure safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips; submit inspection reports as required.
  • Review and verify shipping documents for accuracy and load requirements.
  • Safely maneuver vehicles in various conditions, including heavy traffic and inclement weather. This includes backing, navigating tight spaces, and operating in confined areas.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or equipment damage immediately.
  • Promptly report delays caused by breakdowns, weather, traffic, or other emergencies.
  • Maintain all required compliance records, including mileage logs and hours of service documentation.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Operate cargo vans and 26’ box trucks on company property and at Mercedes locations.
  • Must be comfortable backing and maneuvering trucks in tight spaces.
  • Ability to operate a forklift (or willingness to be trained).
  • May assist with order picking during peak demand periods.
