Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General mechanical experience and/or knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handlers Permit.

Responsibilities

  • Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and prepared filled bottles for packing and shipping. Replenishes packaging supplies such as bottles, lids, boxes, shrink-wrap or labels. Sets up machine with correct lids, bottles, labels and product.
  • Operates machinery with ability to make minor adjustments or repairs. May start, stop or regulate speed of conveyor.
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process. Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
  • Records information, such as batch code, time, and date packaged. Responsible for correct count, accurate label placement, batch codes and lids for each bottle. Must work from technical data to ensure quality production runs.
  • Moves throughout line to ensure accuracy and verify orders.
  • Assists supervisor in additional duties as necessary.
  • Contributes to department team goals based on productivity, in both quantity and quality of work and the accuracy to which the job and/or process is completed.
  • Cross trains and demonstrates competency on all essential job functions of the bottling department.
  • May also keep records on number of items or cartons shipped from the warehouse.
  • Supports and is involved in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
