The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city. DEP’s Green infrastructure program designs, constructs and maintains a range of Green Infrastructure assets that collect stormwater from streets, sidewalks, and other hard surfaces before it can enter the sewer system or cause local flooding. By reducing the amount of stormwater that flows into the Sewer System, green infrastructure helps prevent Combined Sewer Overflows and improves the health of local waterways. The Bureau of Environmental Planning and Analysis at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Borough Supervisor for the NYC Green Infrastructure Maintenance Program. This Borough Supervisor will supervise the cleaning of porous paver installations and infiltration basins. The supervisor will write schedules, coordinate with Bureau partners, assist with field operations, oversee data collection, track progress, troubleshoot equipment problems, communicate with vendors and systematically inspect the work of subordinates to ensure that porous paver and infiltration basin maintenance is performed to the established standards. The Borough Supervisor will be expected to become familiar with recurring issues with the assigned assets classes that impact and work with administrative staff to resolve those issues. They will be responsible for overseeing the timely submission of field logs and evaluation forms deemed required by the operation. Logs include daily maintenance logs, trip tickets, quarterly asset evaluation logs, weekly crew inspection logs, and repair and replacement logs. They will provide training in operation, maintenance, and inspection of all types of Green Infrastructure practices.
