About The Position

This position reports to the Service Manager. As a Boom Truck Operator, responsibilities include providing service, installation and/or repair to customers propane tanks and/or LP piping. The position requires frequent driving, standing, walking, and sitting. There is occasional to frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing. There is frequent use of the hands/arms to reach, feel, handle, lift or pull. There is frequent communication involving both talking and listening. Technicians move various sized objects weighing from a few ounces to over 100 pounds. When very heavy objects are moved technicians are expected to seek assistance from other employees. Delivery Drivers must be able to pull a delivery hose weighing up to 75 pounds a distance of up to 150 feet.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience is required as either a service technician or delivery driver.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Appropriate CETP certification and/or state specific LP service technician licensing is required, or the ability to obtain this certification and licensing.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License with hazardous materials endorsement is required.
  • CETP training and certification is required to deliver propane and tanks.
  • Apprentice oil burner license is required for oil delivery drivers who prime furnaces.
  • All CDL drivers must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical.
  • All CDL drivers are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Boom Operators certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Safety & efficiency tests, propane tank sets and hook-ups, tank pick-ups and evacuations in accordance with applicable codes, safety regulations and Dead River Company policies.
  • Ensure that all work is performed safely and accurately to eliminate call-backs and reduce liability.
  • Safely and productively make deliveries of both heating oil and propane according federal and state regulations and company policy.
  • Actively participate in training programs to gain new skills.
  • Promote image as a trusted advisor through a neat appearance, clean uniform, and timely, safe and courteous service.
  • Promote Dead River company products and services, advising customers on best options for specific needs.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized vehicle, ensuring all tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
  • Be on call and work overtime as required to meet customer demand.
  • Perform all job functions according to state and federal regulations and company policy.
  • Report all accidents, spills, and liability claims.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
