About The Position

The job of the bookkeeper/free and reduced lunch specialist is to ensure the efficient operation of the child nutrition office to ensure its effective role in the education process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three successful years of job related experience
  • Modern office procedures and computer programs
  • Business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Basic arithmetic
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully in oral and written form

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Free and Reduced Price Meal application process, as required by USDA regulations.
  • Maintains a wide variety of fiscal information, files and records, free/reduced lunch applications for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Composes standardized correspondence.
  • Prepares written reports, memos and letters.
  • Answers and responds to all telephone calls.
  • Schedules appointments and maintains the calendar for the Director of Child Nutrition.
  • Collects and follows up on all outstanding revenue for Child Nutrition.
  • Compiles and submits reports to the State Department of Education.
  • Types invoices and distributes all records from schools participating in serving extended day breakfasts, extended day and pre-kindergarten snacks.
  • Receives all invoices and check requests, and enters data or batches the invoices for payment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
