About The Position

The Booking Technician will perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, FCIC/NCIC checks, processing appropriate paperwork from law enforcement personnel on all incoming arrests, verify documents from corrections personnel before releasing inmates, assist in court related issues, send and answer teletypes, enter arrest information via data entry, determine bond amounts, inform victims of inmate release, maintain files, respond to inquiries from the general public and perform other related duties deemed necessary by the bureau commander.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 2 years experience (The term “experience,” refers to active full-time employment, either in the same position, or directly related to the position applied for. The experience must have occurred within the three (3) years prior to application with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.)
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of computer and office equipment required to perform the position tasks.
  • Efficient in time management skills relating to daily work activities, tasks, and special assignments.
  • Ability to work shifts which will include evening, weekend and holidays.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, demonstrating an awareness for human diversity to citizens and colleagues.
  • Associates degree, 60 equivalent hours from an accredited college or university or the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.
  • Sworn Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241.
  • Civilians must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 248 and Quantitative - 241.
  • Must submit to a comprehensive background investigation, a polygraph examination, medical examinations, drug and tobacco screening, psychological examination (certified and communications positions).
  • Agree to have a background investigator with the SCSO review any social networking websites that you might belong to.

  • Provide back-up within the bureau
  • Receive, route, and disperse telephone calls/ messages
  • Maintain confidential files
  • Maintain and update files/reports/documentation
