The role involves extensive secretarial and administrative duties, including verifying insurance coverage, obtaining and tracking prior authorizations and referrals, and scheduling procedures in compliance with payor policies. The clerk will also handle patient registration, demographic and insurance information, post charges, schedule various patient treatments and diagnostic services, manage telephone communications, and process mail. A key aspect is accurate and timely data entry into the EMR system and processing patient payments.
