About The Position

This is a part-time role in Natick for 18 hours/week, with Wednesday and Thursday shifts of 9 hours each. Mass General Brigham is seeking either a Bone Density Rad Tech or a Mammography Tech willing to perform Bone Density procedures. The rate of pay will depend on experience and credentials, with a minimum of $38/hr for a Rad Tech with Bone Density experience and a minimum of $45/hr for a Mammo Tech. The role involves producing diagnostic imaging through the operation of radiographic equipment, explaining safety protocols, exams, and procedures to patients, and operating fluoroscopic, portable, and diagnostic equipment. The position requires working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with potential for additional duties and coverage in alternate locations or MGB sites. The role also involves performing Tech 1 duties and at least one consistent specialty rotation.

Requirements

  • Other Certificate/Diploma Radiography required
  • Radiologic Technologist and Technician [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Registered Technologist [R.T.(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Radiology Technician experience with multiple patient populations 1-2 years required
  • Must effectively use interpersonal skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. Maintains composure at all times.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written and communication skills; must be able to read and write in English.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, principles of radiation physics, ALARA, radiographic equipment and positioning.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and infection control situations.
  • Displays a positive attitude and professional appearance; exemplifies flexibility and willingness to adapt to the operational needs of the department and MGB.
  • Board eligible through the American Board of Radiology.

  • Associate's Degree Radiography preferred

Responsibilities

  • Confirms correct patient and exam to be performed through patient confirmation and interview, patient history, medical record, appropriately modifying and documenting as needed to ensure accurate imaging and records.
  • Explains exam and contrast administration if required for exam to patient taking into consideration individual physical, emotional and language needs; Ensures patient compliance and understanding.
  • Adjusts equipment appropriately for all exams to set automated and manual technical factors to safely image patients.
  • Performs required imaging using the appropriate equipment and contrast (if needed) according to department protocol and/or the Radiologist's request.
  • Ensures exams are labeled correctly prior to transmission to PACS, and ensures images successfully arrive in PACS.
  • Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies.
  • Works as an independent contributor and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Engages in additional duties as assigned.
  • Regularly performs Tech 1 duties and a minimum of 1 consistent specialty rotation (such as, but not limited to: Pediatric, GI/GU/Misc. Fluoroscopy, MSK IR Procedures, Neuro IR Procedures, O-Arm, Extremity CT, 3D C-arm, and Trauma.
  • May be asked to cover in alternate locations or MGB sites (with appropriate training) should coverage needs arise to ensure a seamless and exemplary patient care experience.
