About The Position

The Bond Department Supervisor leads the Bond Department's daily operations and a team of Bond Specialists, ensuring the accurate and compliant administration of bonds, Powers of Attorney (POAs), Importer Identity Verification, and recordkeeping activities. This role balances operational oversight, regulatory compliance, colleague development, and customer service excellence while serving as a trusted resource for complex issues and escalated client matters. The Supervisor is expected to model and reinforce the organization's core values in all interactions by fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, respect, continuous improvement, and client commitment.

Requirements

  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, bond administration, or a related regulatory environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading, supervising, or managing colleagues in a compliance-focused operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, powers of attorney, importer identity verification requirements, bond administration, and recordkeeping obligations.
  • Experience interpreting and applying regulatory requirements while balancing operational and customer service needs.
  • Proficiency with customs brokerage systems, Microsoft Office applications, and document management platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Customs Compliance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience supervising bond, POA, compliance, or brokerage operations teams preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonresident importer requirements and enhanced due diligence processes preferred.
  • Experience working directly with surety companies and bond underwriting processes preferred.
  • Experience leading audits, quality assurance reviews, process improvements, or compliance initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Bond Specialists by providing direction, mentorship, training, and ongoing feedback.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, monitor results, and hold team members accountable for achieving operational, compliance, quality, and service objectives.
  • Manage team workloads and resources to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of bonds, POAs, and related documentation.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of customs regulations, bond requirements, importer identity verification standards, POA requirements, and other applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls to support accurate, consistent, and compliant department operations.
  • Review and approve POA intake documentation, powers of attorney, and supporting documentation, coordinating second-level reviews when necessary.
  • Review and approve enhanced due diligence documentation for nonresident importers of record, including verification of signer authority through corporate certificates and other supporting evidence.
  • Oversee business legitimacy reviews, importer identity verification activities, and restricted party screening processes to ensure compliance with CBP requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality reviews of bonds, POAs, importer verification activities, and recordkeeping practices to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor departmental productivity, quality, and service metrics and take proactive action to improve performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as an escalation point for clients requiring additional support, guidance, or issue resolution, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and responsiveness.
  • Manage relationships with surety providers and external partners, serving as the primary liaison for bond-related matters, issue resolution, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate POA renewal activities to ensure timely compliance and uninterrupted client service.
