This role involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries. The Boilermaker will align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats, following blueprints, and work with hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles. Responsibilities include assisting in testing assembled vessels, direct cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces, and inspecting and repairing boiler fittings such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines. Specific duties include examining boilers for defects, arc welding pressure vessel structures, inspecting components, repairing or replacing defective parts, attaching rigging, signaling crane operators, bell/beading tube ends, laying out and marking metal for bending and cutting, installing fittings, studying blueprints, straightening or reshaping plates, shaping seams and joints, positioning and aligning structural parts, locating reference points, fabricating parts, cleaning equipment, installing refractory bricks, and assembling large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop prior to installation.
