About The Position
Under the direction of the Assembly Shop Foreman, the Boilermaker assembles bundles and components used in shell-and-tube heat exchangers; dismantles old exchangers and/or bundles for retubing or repair; and tests bundles and exchangers to determine their suitability for use. The role follows shop practices and procedures, applies acceptable boilermaker standards for internal quality control, and performs assigned tasks safely. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities
- Plan the layout of baffles.
- Cut baffles using proper equipment.
- Assemble tie rods and spacers on the bundle skeleton.
- Hang stationary tube sheets and poke tubes into the baffle assembly.
- Roll tubes placed into tube sheets and baffles.
- Install the bundle into the shell when required.
- Perform hydrostatic testing of assembled units.
- Load completed units onto flatbed trucks.
- Create tube-hole ID records, hydrotest results, and exchanger dimensional records.
- Perform assigned tasks safely and avoid unsafe practices.
- Apply acceptable boilermaker standards for internal quality control.
- Set up and perform jobs based on shop practices and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
