About The Position

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in industries such as petrochemical, refining, energy, and pulp and paper. Headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA, Turner Industries has over 20,000 employees with offices and job sites across the United States. The company is seeking mechanically inclined apprentices to support the newly built Oxy Stratos facility in No Trees, TX. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman, with assigned duties performed according to specific procedures and frequent checks. Local candidates are ideal as no per diem is offered. Successful candidates must pass background and drug/health screenings.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
Preferably six (6) months of experience in specified skill
Able to focus on task at hand without being distracted
Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
Pre-Employment qualification test if applicable
Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift.
Digs, spreads and levels dirt and gravel.
Touch up paint.
Pours and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel or other materials.
Handles building materials.
Fixes flats and changes out tires on trailers and mobile equipment.
Lifts and carries materials such as pipe and fittings throughout the facility.
Helps with tools and equipment such as welding machine set up, rigging for the crane, tightening headstock etc.
Operates the crane if certified.
May be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
