About The Position

Responsible for the operation and upkeep of three boilers to ensure a consistent supply of water and steam power. Upholds Franciscan values, including reconciliation, peace and justice, responsible stewardship, and respect for the individual.

Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to learn about heating systems, water quality, and temperature controls.
  • Capable of collecting and testing water samples.
  • Able to reach, stoop, and lift weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficient in Metasys and Johnson Controls software for managing heating, cooling, and boiler systems.
  • Flexible to work either morning or evening shifts as needed for coverage or training.
  • Available to respond to emergency boiler issues outside regular hours when requested.

Responsibilities

  • Operate boilers daily, starting and shutting down systems based on weather conditions and temperature needs.
  • Perform routine blowdowns according to the prescribed schedule.
  • Collect and analyze water samples daily, primarily on the morning shift, but may be required during evenings.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of water softener and boiler/chiller chemicals.
  • Conduct weekly generator tests.
  • Assist with ongoing boiler maintenance as needed.
  • Support general maintenance operations and take on additional tasks as assigned.
  • Work scheduled holidays; participate in rotating weekend shifts (5 hours per day with on-call responsibilities).
  • Assist with outdoor maintenance, including mowing, weed trimming, and snow removal.
  • Responsible for car detailing when required.
  • Help maintain cleanliness in maintenance areas and restrooms.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assume new responsibilities as they arise.
