About The Position

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of boilers, steam systems, and auxiliary equipment in a 24/7 chemical manufacturing environment. This position monitors operating conditions, performs routine inspections and testing, supports chemical unloading activities, and ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Current Third Class Stationary Engineer's License or Ohio Boiler Operator's License.
  • Experience operating industrial boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience working with pneumatic, electronic, and computerized control systems.
  • Ability to operate equipment in both automatic and manual modes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, power generation, or industrial processing environments.
  • Experience with water treatment systems and steam generation equipment.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or similar computerized operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor boilers, controls, and auxiliary equipment in both automatic and manual modes.
  • Monitor system performance through gauges, instrumentation, and computerized control systems.
  • Operate manual valves and perform routine equipment inspections.
  • Read, record, and maintain operating data and logs.
  • Conduct water analysis and testing using laboratory equipment.
  • Collect process samples and perform routine system readings.
  • Monitor operating conditions and identify equipment abnormalities.
  • Oversee sulfuric acid and caustic truck unloading operations.
  • Change filter bags in multiple buildings and pond systems.
  • Assist with utility system operations as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, and wash-down activities.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and operating procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
