About The Position

Weyerhaeuser's Montana Wood Products is seeking a Class 3 Boiler Operator for its Kalispell Plywood Facility. This role is crucial for supporting manufacturing by ensuring boiler uptime and supplying steam to the Kalispell Plywood and Sawmill facilities. The operator will maintain the boiler according to ASME code and Weyerhaeuser's policy standards, manage the boiler hog fuel pile using front-end loaders and skid steer loaders, and obtain progressive Montana State Boiler Engineer licenses. The position involves working with a team of boiler operators on maintenance, fuel handling, and operation, as well as performing maintenance tasks such as equipment inspection, preventative maintenance, plumbing, repairs, cleaning, water testing, and chemistry treatments.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Forklift certification required
Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision
Ability to work closely with supervisors, and all others in the department; be a team player/leader; good verbal and written communication skills; and demonstrate positive attitude
Knowledge and ability to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards
Must have good performance, safety and attendance records.
Must demonstrate good communication skills.
Must have ability to identify, communicate potential problems, and work to solve them.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays and other shifts as required.
Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen

Nice To Haves

Skills/experience in maintenance of boilers and related equipment
Skills/experience in welding/cutting and repair of pumps, pipes, valves and air compressors
Prior boiler operation experience preferred

Responsibilities

Maximize boiler uptime and supply a set pressure and constant flow of steam to the Kalispell Plywood and Sawmill facilities.
Maintain the boiler to ensure all system checks and boiler operating procedures are performed to ASME code and Weyerhaeuser’s policy standards.
Manage boiler hog fuel pile, including running a Komatsu 320 and CAT 966 front-end loader.
Use skid steer loaders for cleaning outlying boiler areas.
Learn how to operate the boiler and obtain progressive Montana State Boiler Engineer licenses within the designated time frame.
Work with a team of boiler operators to maintenance boiler operation, including operation of fuel handling equipment, boiler operation and maintenance.
Work with supervisors and other plant personnel.
Perform maintenance tasks including equipment inspection and preventative maintenance (including rolling stock), plumbing, equipment repairs, keeping boiler area clean, running water tests, and conducting water and chemistry treatments.
