About The Position

A boiler mechanic/operator is responsible for maintaining the boilers, evaporator, chiller, and pasteurizer line and all associated equipment. This role involves operating steam generated boiler(s) and other steam system equipment, scheduling and performing preventative maintenance, and operating various valves. The position requires adherence to safety procedures, company regulations, and food safety guidelines. The role also includes operating and maintaining new boiler equipment for optimal performance and efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 3+ years of experience in boiler operation (experience is a plus on this job).
• Knowledge of general mechanical equipment maintenance.
• Able to read and interpret schematics and diagrams (piping and pneumatic systems).
• Knowledge of pneumatic operated systems and devices.
• Knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 8 (Boiler and Fired Pressure Vessel Safety Orders).
• Organized, methodic, efficient and eager to learn.
• Safety and performance oriented.
• Must have a valid CA driver license without restrictions.

Nice To Haves

• Boiler Operator certification (California) desirable.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate steam generated boiler(s) and other steam system equipment and devices.
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on steam generating boilers and other steam system equipment and devices.
• Operate pneumatically activated valves (automatic and/or manually).
• Operate mechanical valves and safety devices.
• Perform boiler, steam generation system and devices safety procedures and timely inspections, required by the company and state of California compliance regulations and document them accurately.
• Operate and maintain new boiler equipment, for optimum performance and efficiency.
• Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.
• Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.
• Other Duties as assigned
