About The Position

As a Body Shop Technician with Penske, you’ll perform minor truck and trailer collision repairs and, with supervision, some major repairs. You’ll use industry-leading technology, repair techniques, and diagnostic equipment to return customers’ vehicles to high-quality operating condition. The position is located at 7475 Jonesboro Rd., Jonesboro, GA 30236, and the stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role involves working under supervision to repair or replace minor truck and trailer components and assisting Technician I and II staff with major component work. The associate must follow Penske, DOT, and OSHA safety and maintenance policies and maintain a safe work area.

Requirements

Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience, preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Basic computer skills required.
Ability to understand and comply with instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, and other information established by Penske management.
Ability to perform work in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, and to accept responsibility for personal and others’ safety.
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule and location, complete a Penske employment application, and submit to a background investigation and drug screening.
For driving duties, ability to meet DOT requirements, including a current driver qualification file, annual MVR check, completed DOT physical, and safety performance history records request from prior employers in the last three years. CDL holders must complete DOT drug screening within 30 days of starting and are subject to an FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
Ability to move frequently and stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled work.
Ability to use hands routinely and daily to operate tools or controls.
Ability to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms, and to work safely in all weather conditions.
Ability to see and hear sufficiently to navigate a workplace where large trucks frequently move.
Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, and to regularly push or pull truck tires exceeding 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Vocational or technical school education preferred.
Certificate of completion from a technical school specializing in repair and refinishing of all series of trucks and trailers preferred.
Working knowledge of trade tools, including welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines, and power tools preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform minor electrical system repairs.
Prepare surfaces for refinishing.
Repair or replace minor cab accessories.
Repair minor cargo box damage.
Under supervision, repair or replace minor truck and trailer components.
Assist Technician I and II staff with the removal, replacement, and repair of major components.
Maintain the appearance and safety of the work area.
Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Follow DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including appropriate tool and PPE use and safe work practices.
Maintain a current driver qualification file as required for the role.
