About The Position

This night shift role supports uninterrupted production flow and allows technicians to focus on detailed prep and paint work in a quieter, structured setting. You will work on a wide range of heavy-duty equipment including Freightliner, Thomas Built, Sport Chassis, Autocar, and other vocational units, contributing directly to high-quality repairs and customer satisfaction. You will work with experienced leaders and technicians who value teamwork, accountability, and respect. The Body Shop leadership team supports a calm, organized work environment and provides clear direction, realistic expectations, and ongoing support to help you succeed on night shift. This position is responsible for supporting body shop operations through high-quality preparation and painting of heavy-duty vehicles during night shift hours. The Prepper / Painter plays a key role in ensuring repaired units meet quality, finish, and delivery standards.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
  • Ability to follow repair procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Comfortable working independently during night shift hours
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in finish quality
  • Reliability and consistency, especially in a night shift environment
  • Willingness to learn, follow process, and support the team

Nice To Haves

  • Body Shop Prepper or Painter training is an asset
  • Experience with heavy-duty or automotive paint systems is an asset
  • Previous experience as a body shop prepper, painter, or paint assistant preferred
  • Experience in a heavy-duty or automotive body shop environment is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles and components for paint, including sanding, masking, filling, and priming
  • Mix paints and materials according to specifications and safety standards
  • Apply paint and coatings using appropriate equipment and techniques
  • Ensure finishes meet quality, colour match, and durability standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Accurately track time and document work completed on repair orders
  • Follow established paint and prep procedures to ensure consistency and quality
  • Communicate issues or concerns related to materials, equipment, or repairs
  • Review work instructions and repair notes provided by Body Shop Advisors
  • Support final inspections and touch-ups as required
  • Assist with shop organization, material handling, and cleanup
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and workplace procedures
