We cater logistics strategies and processes to our customers' needs by utilizing the latest information systems and advanced technologies. This role performs minor bodywork, priming, and painting of vehicles back to factory standards, as well as wet sanding and buffing vehicles after the refinishing process. Overtime availability is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D Required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive paint required
  • PPG Envirobase and PPG Colormatch System trained required
  • Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
  • Understanding of Factory Paint Standards
  • Understanding of best practice regarding Body Shop prepping and painting
  • Use of hand-held and power tools required
  • Ability to drive both automatic and stick shift vehicles Required
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance required
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems required

Responsibilities

  • Inspects body work prior to painting and preps vehicles for paint.
  • Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
  • Inspects vehicle damage.
  • Applies mask tape over vehicle parts.
  • Buffers.
  • Sands.
  • Primers.
  • Applies Bondo.
  • Checks color codes, selects toners, and mixes paint, performing spray outs of all colors being used.
  • Sprays surfaces of vehicles back to factory standards and applies clear coat.
  • Uses PPG Color Match System.
  • Mixes paint to produce desired color.
  • Paints vehicles inside a heated spray booth (temp of 90-160 F).
  • Cleans spraying equipment with solvents.
  • Disposes of paint/materials.
  • Assists in other production departments as needed.
