About The Position

The Body Shop Painter (Shreveport) position will be responsible for performing minor bodywork, priming, and painting vehicles back to factory standards as well as wet, sand, and buff vehicles after the refinishing process. This person will contribute to the success of the team, assists others, and request help when needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and understand SDS materials
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles
  • Ability to follow established guidelines and work safety
  • Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length
  • Ability to function within working conditions and physical requirements described above
  • Ability to communicate clear and concise instructions to other employees
  • Experience with priming, auto bodywork, and use of hand-held power tools
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
  • 2 years of experience in Automotive painting and bodywork
  • Valid Driver's License & Clear MVR

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Preferred
  • 4 years of experience in Automotive painting and bodywork Preferred
  • OEM Pain Certification in Paint Application Required
  • Automotive or Technical Certification Required

Responsibilities

  • Prep Vehicles: Inspects body work prior to painting and prep vehicles for paint, Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated, Inspect vehicle damage, Buffer, Sand, Primer, Body filler
  • Paint Vehicles to factory standards: Check color codes, select toners, mixes paint and performs spray outs of all colors being used, Sprays surfaces of vehicles back to factory standards then applies clear coat, Use of PPG System, Inspect body work prior to painting, Mix paint to produce desired color, Paint vehicle inside Heated spray booth (temp of 90-160 F), Apply finish using appropriate spray techniques (gun arc, angle, distance, travel speed, and spray pattern overlap) for the finish being applied
  • Tool & Material Maintenance: Cleans spraying equipment with solvent, Disposal of paint / materials, Select and use proper personal safety equipment for surface preparation, spray gun and related equipment operation, paint mixing, matching and application, paint defects, and detailing (glove, suits, hoods, eye and ear protection, etc.), Take necessary precautions with hazardous operations and materials according to federal, state, and local regulations, Apply two-component finishing filler to minor surface imperfections, Inspect, clean, and determine condition of spray guns and related equipment (air hoses, regulators, air lines, air source, spray environment, and fillers)
  • Other duties as assigned
