Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement. Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage. Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item. Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors. Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations. Estimates cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles. Helps maintain good working relationships with insurance adjusters. Established and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business. Follows up on parts department order to ensure parts availability. Monitors progress and completion of assigned vehicles in the shop, ensuring proper repair procedures are followed. Checks quality of completed work. Monitors paper flow to ensure that all documents are accounted for, filled out completely and legibly, and filed or distributed to the appropriate parties. Prepares final billing for completed repair orders. Controls assigned accounts receivables for body repair work. Completes ICAR training classes as required.
