About The Position

The Body Shop Custodian/Lot Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and routine maintenance of the service and customer areas within the body shop. This role ensures a safe and presentable environment for both customers and employees, minimizing disruptions to daily operations. The position involves a variety of cleaning tasks, including washing windows, mopping floors, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining outdoor areas. Additionally, the custodian will assist technicians with spills, manage waste disposal, handle scrap parts, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Understanding and compliance with OSHA Right-to-Know and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Use of proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.

  • Experience with cleaning oil storage tanks.
  • Ability to identify and remove scrap parts.
  • Willingness to assist technicians with spills and equipment.
  • Ability to run errands.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans service and customer areas.
  • Performs routine building maintenance to minimize interruption.
  • Washes all windows, glass doors, and glass panels throughout the body shop area.
  • Mops and cleans the service waiting area, offices, technicians' locker room, lunch room, halls, and shop bathroom.
  • Sweeps technician stalls, body shop floors, showroom, halls, and vending areas.
  • Cleans all signs, posters, service signs, mirrors, fans, and vending machines.
  • Cleans bathrooms and restocks paper supplies.
  • Cleans the driveway, parking area, sidewalks, and removes debris.
  • Empties and cleans the lunchroom refrigerator weekly.
  • Cleans all body shop power equipment.
  • Empties and cleans all trash receptacles, inside and outside.
  • Removes all debris from the lot.
  • Cleans oil storage tanks according to procedures.
  • Drains and disposes of used oil filters properly.
  • Removes old scrap parts from the body shop after checking with the parts manager.
  • Returns cores to the storage area.
  • Assists technicians with oil and water spills and with emptying drain tubs.
  • Runs errands as directed by the foreman.
  • Understands and complies with OSHA Right-to-Know and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
