Position Overview In this role, you will support manufacturing engineering activities focused on developing, improving, and sustaining production processes for assigned areas. The position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to solve complex manufacturing challenges through root cause analysis and issue resolution. Success in this role requires creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently within established practices, policies, and standards.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent relevant education and training.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with similar equipment and tools; five or more years preferred.
  • Experience with automotive assembly processes and related tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex subject matter.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, creativity, and initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities in a complex work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the design, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned areas.
  • Analyze product and machinery designs to determine the most effective manufacturing methods.
  • Propose, evaluate, and implement process improvements for equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Provide direction to small groups of technical employees and support personnel.
  • Evaluate and monitor expenditures related to processes and equipment.
  • Interpret product math data and engineering specifications to develop the tools and equipment needed to support manufacturing operations.
  • Propose and evaluate process, tooling, and equipment designs.
  • Review and approve tool designs, release tools to build sources, and oversee tool build and installation activities as needed to meet business requirements.
  • Develop and oversee production of build process documentation for shop floor use.
  • Partner with design and product engineering teams to assess the manufacturing feasibility of product designs.
  • Provide technical direction to support personnel, maintenance teams, and tool design and build suppliers.
  • Occasionally oversee other engineers or engineering support personnel to achieve specific departmental and project objectives.
